Figurative sculptor, Sian Watson, explores the relationships between humans, animals and their shared environments. Watson captures movement and narrative in her ambiguous forms, reflecting themes of evolution, adaptation and plays on varied viewer interpretation.
Having completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts (First Class Honours) at the Australian National University in 2015, Watson’s practice now spans studio-based works and public art commissions. She has exhibited art in Australia, Canada and the USA, and has been nationally collected.
Sian Watson was the recipient of the Crafted Development Public Art Commission in 2015, withUndergrazing now part of ArtsAct’s Public Art Collection. She has received several sculpture awards including the ClearWater Sculpture Prize (Queanbeyan City Council 2016), the Tuggeranong Arts Centre Solo Exhibition Prize (Sculpture in the Paddock 2018), the Moolarben Major Acquisition (Sculpture in the Garden 2020) and the Clitheroe Emerging Artist Mentor Program (Sculpture by the Sea 2020).
