This captivating photographic series was conceived during Simone Rosenbauer’s residency near Mt. Fuji in 2023. Rosenbauer captures the transformation of light from the stark clarity of the sun to the gentle embrace of clouds, imparting the images with a dreamlike, introspective quality and a subtle sense of time’s passage.
Each melting ice cream form serves as a poetic meditation on time, highlighting the interplay of past, present, and future. The unpredictable whispers of the wind introduce an element of serendipity, adding enchanting imperfections to the frames. Set against carefully chosen backdrops, each portrait of ice cream reflects the essence of Japan, resonating with the fleeting nature of life and the profound beauty found in transient moments.
Through this series, the artist invites viewers to explore the balance between permanence and impermanence, discovering beauty in the ephemeral reflections of human experiences and emotions.
