Todd Fuller is included in Maitland Regional Art Gallery’s current exhibition Upriver Downriver, the second Hunter Biennale, which brings together more than 40 artists connected to the Hunter region. The exhibition follows the Hunter River from the Upper Hunter through Maitland to the Port of Newcastle, using the river as both a physical route and a cultural thread. Fuller’s inclusion places his practice within a broader conversation about regional identity, memory, storytelling and place. Presented across all gallery spaces, Upriver Downriver highlights the strength and diversity of contemporary practice emerging from, and shaped by, the Hunter. The exhibition is on view from 11 July to 11 October 2026.
Luke Thurgate is included in Ngununggula’s current group exhibition New Religion, which brings contemporary Australian commissions into dialogue with historical works from major public collections. The exhibition considers how religious imagery, ritual, morality and systems of belief continue to shape meaning across time. Thurgate presents a large-scale charcoal wall drawing, Let Me Down Gently, conceived in relation to ideas of altar, ritual and the sacred. Made directly onto the gallery wall, the work embraces the fragility and impermanence of charcoal, creating a powerful contrast with the historical religious works shown alongside it. New Religion is on view at Ngununggula, Southern Highlands Regional Gallery, from 27 June to 18 October 2026.
Todd Fuller has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award, a national award celebrating contemporary sculpture by artists from across Australia. The annual exhibition of shortlisted works is held at Deakin University Art Gallery in Burwood and generally brings together around 40 finalists selected by a rotating panel of arts professionals. The award recognises innovation within small-scale sculpture, with the winning work acquired into the Deakin University Art Collection. Finalists works will be on view 24th August to 9th October 2026.
Andrew Nicholls has been selected as a finalist in The Lester Prize 2026, one of Australia’s leading portraiture prizes. The prize focuses on portraiture as a way of placing artists, subjects and community at the centre of contemporary practice. Nicholls’ inclusion places his work within a strong national field of finalists, with the exhibition to be held at WA Museum Boola Bardip in Perth. The 2026 finalist exhibition will run from 10 October to 29 November 2026.
Sydney Contemporary returns to Carriageworks this September for its 10th edition, marking a significant milestone for Australasia’s leading contemporary art fair.
This year also marks M Contemporary’s 10th year participating in the fair. We are delighted to be presenting new works by Rick Carlino and Lyndi Sales at Booth D11. Fair runs from September 3rd to 6th.
