At M Contemporary, we see our role as creating meaningful connections between artists, collectors, designers and institutions through a programme that is thoughtful, accessible and internationally informed.
Many of the artists we work with explore materiality, memory, landscape and abstraction through highly individual approaches, creating a programme that values long-term practice over short-term trends.
We work closely with artists throughout the development of exhibitions, publications, commissions and placements, helping present their work within a broader context and supporting the growth of their careers over time.

Sydney Contemporary is Australia’s premier contemporary art fair, held annually at Carriageworks in Eveleigh. .M Contemporary has exhibited at the fair every year since 2018, presenting a curated selection of works by gallery artists across painting, works on paper and sculpture.

Supporting our artists extends well beyond the walls of .M Contemporary. We actively work to place our artists’ practices within the broader Australian contemporary art landscape and regional galleries are an important part of that picture.
Regional public galleries across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria collect and exhibit works by our artists, bringing their practice to audiences who may not visit Sydney. These relationships matter to us. They affirm the cultural weight of the work and, over time, contribute meaningfully to an artist’s exhibition history and market.
For collectors, works held in regional public collections carry a particular significance, they indicate that an artist’s practice has been recognised and validated beyond the commercial gallery context.
Art prizes are one of the most visible ways an artist’s practice is recognised beyond the gallery. We encourage and actively support our artists in submitting to Australia’s major prizes — and our artists have a strong record across portraiture, landscape, still life and open categories.
For collectors, a prize finalist listing is more than a credential. It means the work has been assessed by an independent panel, has appeared in a public exhibition, and has been seen by an audience that extends far beyond the commercial gallery circuit. Over time, a consistent prize history is one of the clearest indicators of a practice with sustained critical standing.
We keep collectors informed when our artists are finalists or recipients, and can arrange for priority access to works being entered into upcoming prizes where relevant.
