OKSANA BASARAB | THE SILENCE OF MOUNTAINS
This series is connected to the mountains of my homeland, which are very important to me. I’m not trying to paint a specific place. I work with memory, atmosphere, and the feeling of space.
The landscapes are built from fragments. This reflects my need to control the process, and is also connected to my anxiety.
In each work there is a small house. For me, it is a way to bring a human presence into a large and open space. The series is about how a landscape is felt.

Oksana Basarab is a Ukrainian artist currently living and working in Sydney, Australia. She moved in late 2024, bringing with her a deep connection to her homeland and a background shaped by both fine art and illustration.
