Mark Howson | Trees, Buildings and Distant Hills
We are excited to announce that Mark will be visiting the gallery from his property in Kyneton, Victoria for the duration of the exhibition.
He will also be conducting an artist talk on Saturday 4th from 2pm. His talk will cover his career in the arts from his role as part of the notorious Roar Studio group of the 1980’s through to this current release of works. Touching on his influences, inspirations and working practice the afternoon will give a wonderful insight into the life one of Australia’s pioneering artists.
All artworks are box framed in a Tasmanian oak frame, the price is inclusive of framing.
Mark Howson was born in Staffordshire, England and arrived Australia in 1969. He was a founding member of Roar Studios – one of Melbourne’s earliest (fiercest) artist-run-initiatives. Howson’s art practise encompasses drawing, painting and sculpture. His work is highly regarded for it’s meditative, cubist style, which developed from vigourous expressionism into avant-garde abstraction. Popular representations include simple, textural forms in carefully balanced, bright compositions.
