FEMININE TRINITY | GROUP EXHIBITION
Feminine Trinity brings together the distinct yet interconnected visions of Maria Jose Benvenuto, Alison Smith, and Georgina Bedwell, three artists whose work embodies the complexity, strength, and fluidity of femininity. Each artist channels her unique perspective, creating a powerful synergy that celebrates the nuances of womanhood, while simultaneously pushing beyond traditional boundaries.
Maria Jose Benvenuto’s art immerses viewers in a world of delicate abstraction, where the organic forms and soft palettes evoke a sense of sensuousness and vulnerability. Her work reflects an intimate exploration of identity, where the personal becomes universal, inviting contemplation on the emotional and spiritual dimensions of being.
Alison Smith’s pieces confront the rawness of the human experience, using bold, dynamic strokes and rich textures to reflect the tension between strength and sensitivity. Her work challenges perceptions of femininity, offering an unflinching portrayal of power, resilience, and the primal connection to nature.
Georgina Bedwell completes the trinity with works that dance between the real and the surreal. Her playful yet poignant approach deconstructs societal expectations of women, using symbolism and vivid colors to question the limitations imposed on female identity. Bedwell’s art reminds us of the freedom found in self-expression and the inherent creativity in breaking molds.
Together, these three artists form a collective narrative, weaving their individual threads into a cohesive exploration of what it means to be a woman in the contemporary world. Feminine Trinity is not just an exhibition, but a celebration of feminine power in all its forms—fierce, tender, and transformative.
Georgina Bedwell is an emerging abstract painter, living in Sydney. She has recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Australia’s leading independent fine art college, the National Art School. Her artwork delves into the power of sensation, by considering the interconnectedness between the self and the natural world. She likens her practice to a form of, “inward meditation” where she transcends the physical realm of landscape and enters a state of introspection. By deepening the colour palette of the natural environment, she invites a quiet unearthliness to the forefront of her compositions, through extraction techniques of various inks.

With extensive research into themes of identity and face politics she works from personal experience, mediated images, and directly from life. In this work Alison uses her own experience as an adopted person to investigate and challenge perceptions surrounding the diversity of human experiences of identity.
Read moreIn late 2018, Chilean Artist, Maria Jose Benvenuto, swapped her home city of Santiago, situated in a valley surrounded by mountain ranges, for the scrubby bush lands and oceanic horizons of Sydney’s Northern Beaches. For an artist whose practice had, up until that point, been informed by the imposing mountain peaks that looked down on her previous home, Benvenuto was struck by the endless vistas of Sydney’s landscape.
