Emilie Syme Lamont
EXHIBITIONSNovember 10th – November 26th
This exhibition illustrates the artist’s exploration into ideas
surrounding memory, association and fragmentation. The
work recalls the unsettling and curious sensation of Déjà vu;
A liminal space between wake and sleep, fiction and reality.
Its disorienting, and relates somehow to The Uncanny. Do you
remember when TV Ended? is Syme Lamont’s effort to express
these ideas through her art practice.
Syme Lamont is interested in repetitious forms, doubles and
fragments. As she reconfigures the image or object, she
discovers relationships between forms. Poetic and psychological
associations come into play. This idea in a broader sense speaks
to the notion of memory as a complicated archive of personal
and cultural experiences thrown together and re-presented
though paintings and objects.
